Five Calgary communities hosting holiday shopping experiences

With the countdown to Christmas on, holiday shopping is likely on your to-do list. If you want to support local businesses and enjoy some holiday community spirit, there’s five Calgary neighbourhoods you should check out this month.

  • Inglewood: Christmas in Inglewood is happening tonight (November 30th) from 5 to 9pm. Head down for the kick-off to the holiday shopping season and browse the amazing local merchants on the 9th Avenue strip. Plus, there will be lots of holiday cheer and places to dine on the way as well.
  • Kensington: Christmas in Kensington features Christmas movies by donation (at Plaza Theatre) every Saturday through December. Plus, complimentary coffee and hot chocolate, selfies with Santa, horse and wagon rides, petting zoo and much more. Plaza movie schedule: Saturday, Dec. 2 – 3:30 p.m. (Love Actually), Saturday, Dec. 9 – 3:30 p.m. (The Grinch) * Donations will go towards the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation*, Saturday, Dec. 16 – 3:30 p.m. (Bad Santa) and Saturday, Dec. 24 – 3:30 p.m. (Die Hard).   • Mission: Late Night Shopping on 4th Street is happening tonight and Thursday, December 7th. Participating Mission businesses along 4th Street SW will be open until 8pm, participating stores here. Plus, find out how you can get yourself a free Christmas tree!
  • Downtown: to promote shopping in Downtown, the community is hosting a number of holiday events in the core: santa visits, family-friendly skates, Christmas carols, etc. You can get all your shopping done down there, and take in holiday cheer too. There will also be a dedicated Christmas market on December 13th, more information here.
