Vote for the ‘Best of Calgary’

‘Best of Calgary’ is a celebration of what our beautiful city is and what it does best. Each year, they distribute an online survey for Calgarians to vote in their favourites categories to declare who and what are some of Calgary’s best offerings, including areas of arts, culture, music and entertainment. The survey is open now until February 15 so make sure to cast your vote in the next few weeks. Check out some Best of Calgary winners from 2018:


Food & Beverage

  • Best Budget Restaurant: Peter’s Drive-InA Calgary icon since 1964, Peter’s Drive-In is well known for its famous burgers and unlimited milkshake flavours. The next time you’re craving a milkshake for a reasonable price, be sure to stop by Peter’s Drive-In at 219 16 Ave NE.
  • Best Late Night Eats: Tubby Dog. Head to 17th Avenue near midnight any weekend night and the line at Tubby Dog will show just how much Calgarians enjoy late-night eats. Tubby Dog patrons rave about their out-of-the-ordinary hot dog toppings, like Ketchup chips, cereal and sauerkraut. Don’t knock it until you try it.

Cityscapes & People

  • Best Sports Personality (Hero): Lanny MacDonald.Still holding the Calgary Flames franchise record for the most goals scored in a single season (66!), Lanny MacDonald is a household name in Calgary. He played his final NHL game during the 1989 Stanley Cup finals with the Calgary Flames and his retired jersey, number 9, still hangs in the rafters of the Saddledome. Go Flames go!
  • Best Neighbourhood: Inglewood. Not only is Inglewood Calgary’s oldest neighbourhood, but it’s bursting with art, culture, lively shops and enjoyable eateries – no wonder Calgarians love it!
