Best Neighbourhoods: Huntington Hills

This year’s Avenue Calgary Best Neighbourhood List is out and we have Huntington Hills coming in at number two. The list is determined by factors like walk score, transit score, green spaces, pathways, restaurants and other public facilities. Here are a few statistics that put Huntington Hills at number two on this year’s list:

  • Walk score of 55 and a transit score of 54.
  • 17 restaurants.
  • 81 public recreation access points.
  • An average home value of $379,000.
  • A population of 13,409, working out to 2,784 people per square kilometre.

Huntington Hills is one of the few neighbourhoods in Calgary that toes the line between two quadrants. Depending on where you live in Huntington Hills, you could be in the northeast or northwest area of Calgary. The area is located between 14th street and Deerfoot Trail and has everything you need from recreation centres to grocery stores. It also boasts multiple schools and parks, so you don’t have to go far to find a playground.

You are also close to Nose Hill Park where you have 11 square kilometres of greenspace to explore with your family and maybe a pet. Most of the park is off-leash, so if you have a dog that likes to play and run, this is one of the best spots in the city. It also has great views of downtown for you to enjoy while you walk or run the trails.

Huntington Hills has easy access to the newly renovated Deerfoot City with restaurants, stores and a large arcade – you will never have to worry about what to do on the weekend. With easy access to Deerfoot Trail, you will have no issues getting across the city or heading out of town.
