Calgary’s Lake Communities

Lakeside living isn’t the type of real estate generally associated with Calgary, but the truth is there are plenty of communities in our city boasting lakes. You really can have it all—lake and city living in one place. Here are some lake communities worth checking out:

Arbour Lake

Recently named the 2nd Best Neighbourhood in Calgary, by Avenue Magazine, Arbour Lake is located in the city’s northwest, in ward two. The community was established in 1992, and has a 10-acre lake offers fishing, boating and swimming. Check out the Arbour Lake Community Association for more.

Lake Bonavista

Lake Bonavista has one of the largest man-made lakes in Calgary, at 52 acres. The community was established in 1967, and is located in the southeast quadrant, in ward 14. Lake Chaparral

The community of Chaparral was built in 1995, in the southeast quadrant in ward 14. Their lake is available at private use for its residents, and fishing and swimming are allowed there as well. Check out there Chaparral Community Association for more.

Lake Midnapore

Another lake community in the southeast, Midnapore  was built in 1977 and boasts a 30-acre lake. Like other private lakes in the area, it is for its residents use and allows for boating, swimming and fishing. More information is available at the Midnapore Lake Residents Association website.
