Results from the 2014 City of Calgary census are out, and some of Calgary’s newest communities are the fastest-growing, with thousands of residents moving to suburb communities.
At the top of the community growth list is the northeast neighbourhood of Saddleridge, which saw a population increase of 2,373 people. Other communities topping the list are:
- Auburn Bay: 2,242 more people
- Cranston: 1,858 more people
- Skyview Ranch: 1,759 more people
- Panorama Hills: 1,384 more people
- Aspen Woods: 1,095 more people
In total, the city’s population grew by 38,508 to bring us to a total of 1,195,194 Calgarians.
“Now we’re seeing about 58 per cent of growth happening in new neighbourhoods, and about 42 per cent happening in existing neighbourhoods, which is a huge shift,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. [Global Calgary]
