With the holiday season upon us, many people will be traveling to visit family or take a vacation. While you’re away, be sure you take steps to protect your condo.
• Review your insurance policy: since the natural disasters last summer, insurance companies are evaluating all claims for closely now. Ensure your condo (and contents) are covered.
• Give someone your contact: whether it be your condo board or neighbour, someone should have contact information for you, as well as the duration of your leave.
• Lock it up: make sure your windows and doors are locked, your taps are fully turned off, and your heating is turned down.
• Don’t give away your gone: if you live in a townhome, it’s not a bad idea to keep some lights on. Also, be careful of what you reveal online about being away.
