If you’re a small condo dweller, or just looking to design a smaller room in your home, there are many mistakes you can make. A small space doesn’t mean small design, so here’s some tips for designing for smaller areas:
Be bold: you don’t have to ‘play it safe’ with a small space. Being dramatic with colour or decor will do a lot in a smaller room.
Don’t clutter: less can be more in a small space. Don’t get bogged down with cramming too much stuff in your space, besides it will make it look a lot smaller.
Make a plan: be strategic in planning your small space, if you don’t have a lot of room to work with you want to make sure everything in your room is as purposeful as possible.
Quality flooring and walls: the floors and walls take up the most space in your room, so pay them some attention. Great flooring will make a huge difference, and of course the right paint colour.
Don’t just use small furniture: like the first point, don’t focus on small furniture because you think you have to. Go big when you want to be a little dramatic.
