Whether you’re looking to up your home value before selling, or just make your home feel a little more luxurious, expensive taste doesn’t have to be expensive. Here’s a few quick and inexpensive way to make your home look more luxurious.

  • Fresh flowers: similar to ideas stolen from hotel lobbies or luxury home photoshoots, a simple bouquet of fresh flowers makes a room appear more sophisticated. Get creative in matching your flowers to the room, or go bold with a bright shade.
  • Different textures: a common design tip from luxury experts is to mix your textures in a room; combine smooth with rough and add a variety of different materials, fabrics and feels.
  • Fake height: a feature of many luxury homes is high ceilings, but you can fake them by hanging your curtains close to the ceilings, it gives the look of elongated walls.
  • Upgrade your lights: switch out the standard lights that your house has, and opt for something more luxurious like a chandelier. Even switching out desk and floor lamps with more chic designs makes a big difference in a room.
  • De-clutter: too many “things” in a room can look messy. Best advice is to pair down your accents and have a few select decor items that will make a room look more sophisticated.
