Money Sense Magazine recently released their list of top neighbourhoods for Calgary, and while the list may surprise you, it won’t once you see these numbers. Money Sense bases their rankings on return on investment and where is an excellent place to buy a home right now, turns out these five Calgary communities are amazing investments.
- Albert Park/Radisson Heights: this is a neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant, bounded to the west by the Bow River and Deerfoot Trail, to the north by Memorial Drive and to the south by 17 Avenue SE. The average home price is $343,808, but here’s some more figures:
– Average price vs. area: 96.6%– Average price vs. metro district: 61.7%– Average price vs. greater city area: 68.5%– One year price change: -2.00%– Three year price change: 16.39%– Five year price change: 27.8%
- Martindale: this residential neighbourhood is in the northeast quadrant. It is located to the north of 64th Avenue NE, west of Falconridge Boulevard. The area was developed in the 1980s and is just east of the Calgary International Airport. The average home price is $360,550, but here’s some more figures:- Average price vs. area: 92.4%
– Average price vs. metro district: 64.7%
– Average price vs. greater city area: 71.8%
– One year price change: -0.32%
– Three year price change: 18.12%
– Five year price change: 34.5% - Castleridge: the northeast community of Castleridge is situated between McKnight Boulevard and 64th Avenue, neighbour to the Calgary International Airport. The average home price is $337,258, but here’s some more figures:
– Average price vs. area: 86.4%– Average price vs. metro district: 60.5%– Average price vs. greater city area: 67.2%– One year price change: -1.90%– Three year price change: 18.13%– Five year price change: 36.5%
- Southview: located in the southeast and bounded by 17 Avenue SE to the north, 36 Street SE to the east, 26 Avenue SE to the south and the Bow River to the west. The average home price is $380,058, here’s some other figures:

– Average price vs. metro district: 68.2%– Average price vs. greater city area: 75.7%– One year price change: -1.40%– Three year price change: 14.62%– Five year price change: 31.6% - Falconridge: the northeast community of Falconridge is bordered by 64 Avenue and 44 Street East, offering easy access to major transportation routes. The average home price is $331,367, but here’s some other figures:
