Since the flood of 2013, the City of Calgary has worked hard to prepare our city for another natural disaster. Recently, the University of Waterloo gave Calgary an overall grade of B for its flood preparedness.
The study focused on 16 areas which included: flood plain mapping, human health and safety and emergency responders, for which Calgary scored an A. The areas in which our city could use improvement, according to the study, were in urban drainage.
The City of Calgary is holding flood readiness information sessions this week, open for the public to attend and learn about what’s been done in our city and what they are working on.
