You don’t have to leave Calgary’s city limits to enjoy the lakefront lifestyle. Calgary is fortunate to have several beautiful lake communities, where residents enjoy a lake lifestyle right in our big city. These waterfront communities offer year-round benefits, like skating in the winter but swimming and suntanning in the summer.
- Arbour Lake: This community is nestled in the city’s northwest, bordered by Country Hills Boulevard and Crowchild Trail, established in 1992. This lake is enjoyed for boating, fishing, swimming and skating in the winter.
- Auburn Bay: This community is located in the city’s southeast, easily accessible from Stoney Trail or Deerfoot Trail. This lake is 43 acres of freshwater, with a private beach and park.
- Chaparral: Another community in the city’s southeast, this 33-acre lake also boasts a huge landscaped park with cascading waterfalls and a sandy beach to enjoy while swimming.
- Coral Springs: Located in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, this 16-acre lake has three parks for beach volleyball, boating, fishing and swimming.
- Lake Bonavista: This community is located in southeast Calgary, with lots of amenities for residents and a beautifully-maintained lake for swimming, boating and play.
- Mahogany: This is Calgary’s largest freshwater lake, with 84 combined acres of lake and private beachfront for residents to enjoy in this southeast community.
- Midnapore: Another southeast lake community, offering residents in that area the luxury of water sports in the summer and skating in the winter.
- McKenzie Lake: This southeast community offers a 43-acre lake, with a 22-acre beach with beach house, with all the amenities to enjoy your water lifestyle.
- Sundance: The lake in Sundance is private for the use of residents in this southeast community. Its lake and facilities are described as leading edge.
