Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or moving into your next place, there are three main factors to consider when you’re in the beginning stages of buying: size, location and price.
To help you decide which home is right for you, try asking the following questions:
Size
How many bedrooms do you need?
How many bathrooms do you need?
Do you need space for a home office?
What kind of parking facilities do you need? For how many cars?
Location
Do you want to live in the suburbs, urban areas or countryside?
How easy will it be to get to where you work?
Where will your children go to school? How will they get there?
What proximity do you want to be to: shopping centres, recreation, walking/biking paths?
PriceHow much are you spending now on living?
How much can you afford to spend?
How much will your down payment be?
What are additional living costs to consider: condo fees, community fees?
We recently polled our Twitter followers on which factor is the most important to them when buying a home. Here’s some of the feedback we got:
“For buyers it’s normally 1) Location- lot 2) Price 3) Floor plan” – Trico Homes @tricohomes
“First time around it was price, but for my next home, location will be the priority!” – Amber Craig @AmberCraig_
