Calgary’s Best: Huntington Hills

The verdict is in, Avenue Magazine released the rankings of Calgary’s Best Neighbourhoods, and over the coming weeks, we are going to delve into the investment opportunity and benefits of each of the top 10 communities.

In the number six spot, is the northwest community of Huntington Hills:

  • 55 walk score
  • 54 transit score
  • 102.91 crime rate
  • 5 off-leash parks

Huntington Hills is a community in northwest Calgary, bounded by Beddington Boulevafrd, Deerfoot Trail, 64 th Avenue and Nose Hill Park. Nose Hill Park is the largest park in Calgary. This is a well-established community with a variety of housing options. The community has a skateboard park, community facility and lots of recreational buildings and amenities. As for investment opportunity, the median assessed property value is $379,000, which is down 1.85 per cent from the previous year. However, this is a reflection on the economy, not the area. Also, it makes buying into the area more affordable—buyers’ market!

Some of the notable perks as ranked in the survey (overall ranking compared to all communities in Calgary):

  • 2nd overall for access to parks and pathways
  • 39 out of 185 for access to restaurants, bars and coffee shops
  • 45 out of 185 for transit

Nestled between Nose Hill Park and Deerfoot Trail, Huntington Hills scored among the top Calgary neighbourhoods for playgrounds, access to libraries and parks and pathways. It also ranked among the top 15 for recreation facilities, schools and grocery stores. Between its community centre and sportsplex — which offers a number of recreational programs such as curling, soccer and ringette — and its skateboard park, there’s always something happening in the Hills.
