Calgary’s Best: Arbour Lake

The verdict is in, Avenue Magazine released the rankings of Calgary’s Best Neighbourhoods, and over the coming weeks, we are going to delve into the investment opportunity and benefits of each of the top 10 communities.

In the number eight spot, is the community of Arbour Lake:

  • 10,921 population
  • 46 walk score
  • 43 transit score
  • 0 off-leash parks

Arbour Lake is a northwest community bounded by Country Hills Boulevard, Crowchild Trail, Nose Hill Drive and Stoney Trail. At the centre of this community-centric neighbourhood, is the lake that offers residents swimming, boating, fishing, ice skating, community events and so much more. All of your amenities are within reach in this area too. In terms of investment opportunity, the median assessed property value is $449,000, which is down 4.5 per cent from last year. With the market expected to pick up drastically in no time, right now is a great chance to get into this heritage community at an affordable rate.

Some of the notable perks as ranked in the survey (overall ranking compared to all communities in Calgary):

  • 4th overall for community engagement
  • 8 out of 185 for access to restaurants, bars and coffee shops
  • 81 out of 185 for crime

At the crossroads of Stoney Trail and Crowchild Trail, this northwest community is well situated for getting around the city and getting out to the mountains. But it’s what’s inside this neighbourhood that really counts, particularly the residents’ association members-only beach around the community’s eponymous lake. Not surprisingly, Arbour Lake also benefits from a high community-engagement score. [Avenue Magazine]
