Christmas is a wonderful time to reflect and spend time with friends and family while you celebrate the festive season. However, this can also be a tough time for the less fortunate, who perhaps can’t afford Christmas presents or struggle to put food on the table, let alone prepare a massive feast for their family. The Mustard Seed appreciates your help over the Christmas season and actively asks you to help out your fellow neighbours in need.
The Mustard Seed is a Christian organization that aims to help build hope and well-being among adults experiencing homelessness and poverty in Calgary. This organization has been around since the 1980s and it has been a haven for many who suffer day in and day out on the Calgary streets. Growing to the large organization it is today found on 11thavenue downtown, the Mustard Seed offers a wide range of programs for people in need to get involved in. They provide education and employment programs, health and wellness services, basic needs through a shelter for 370 men and women, spiritual care and housing. The Mustard Seed now exists in Red Deer and Edmonton as well, serving people in need province-wide.
Throughout the holiday season, many people find time to volunteer and give back to their community. The Mustard Seed is a popular organization for individuals to support their fellow Calgarians. Whether you would like to volunteer, donate or pray, the Mustard Seed gratefully appreciates each and every person who gives their time this Christmas season. “Your gift to our mission, here at The Mustard Seed – whether you are helping us fundraise, volunteering, inviting us to speak at your event, or starting a drive for much-needed goods – will directly impact those who need it the most, making invaluable resources available to men and women who are searching for a reason to hope.”
