If you’re on the condo board for a building that was affected by the recent flooding, you’ve probably got a lot on your plate right now. We came across a great resource from the City of Calgary today that may put your mind at ease. Here are some of the highlights from the release:
• First and foremost, residents should NOT reoccupy their homes until it’s absolutely safe to do so. Condo board members have a responsibility to ensure safety of the building.
• You do not have to wait for your property managers to begin addressing the needs of the building. You can initiate inspections and begin remediation on your own.
• To begin building inspections, fill out a service request at calgary.ca/311
• If your condo does not have power, call ENMAX at 403-514-6100 (when electricity is turned back on, so will appliances that were on during the time of outage – please ensure safety of all residents).
• If you smell natural gas or see an exposed gas line, leave the area immediately and call 911 or ATCO Gas 1-800-511-3447.
• If your building has seepage and/or sewage backup, call 911
• Important to ensure repairs are done without delays.
