It doesn’t matter how hard we fight it, fall…and winter are coming. Just like we have to prepare our homes for colder seasons, the same needs to be done with our yard. We came across a great article in CREB Real Estate News, that outlines some great tips on how to get your yard winter-ready.
• Clear clutter: Give your yard a good rake to get rid of debris and leaves.
While colder weather and the first frost can leave your summer annuals and other plants looking sad and wilty, Canadian Garden suggests planting icicle pansies where you’ve cleared out your summer annuals.
• Place a barrier with tree guard or chicken wire around your plants and shrubs.
• Once you’re finished harvesting your garden, consider composting the remains.
