Spring is when things generally heat up in the real estate market in Calgary, and the warmer weather allows homeowners to focus on improving curb appeal of their home as well.
When you’re in the process of selling your house, you have to remember that the potential homebuyers need to be able to picture themselves living there. Having said that, first impressions are very important, so be sure that the exterior of your home looks as appealing and well-kept as possible.
Here’s a checklist you may find helpful. Walk around your house and check the following:
- Your yard is clutter-free
- Driveway and/or walkway is free of cracks or uneven spaces
- Lawn is well-maintained and free of bald/discoloured spots
- Windows and exterior walls are clean
- All exterior paint (including the front door) is kept up and not chipping
- Eaves and downspouts are clean and in working order
- Decks/patios are clean and clutter-free
- Ensure all outdoor lighting works
- Windows/doors are properly caulked
- Gates (if you have them) are well-oiled
Paint your front door a chic, eye-catching shade, and you’ll have all the passersby stopping to gawk in envy. Choose a color that complements your home; if you need help deciding, pick the shade that’s opposite the color of your house onthe color wheel. [Domaine Home]
